Thrills And Spills

*Ok, before we go anywhere: bagels with cream cheese and dulce de leche. Lions and tigers and bears, OH my!*

Bernadette had a weekend off, finally, so it was fun for the whole family. Unfortunately I really shouldn't wait until Monday to start writing about the weekend because by now it's just a hodge podge of random non-linear images. There were sprinklers,

there was the beach,

there were shipwrecks,

there was my mother-in-law's pho (Vietnamese noodle soup if you've never heard of it),

there were strange backward sliding on your ass falling between big giant rocks that even though I saw it happen I cannot quite explain it falls,

and mommy and daddy had enough time to sneak off to see Bat Man. And The Dark Knight, awesome. Then there were those magic moments like Sunday morning while we were all lying in bed watching an animated Avenger's movie and Captain America had just fallen off a nuclear missile fired by an evil alliance between Nazi's and aliens and plunged into the icy North Atlantic and Liam asked if Nemo was down there. Yes there was that moment I thought to myself, you are too young to be watching this, but then I dismissed it, he needs to learn his super heroes and the earlier the better.

All in all, a pretty good weekend.

**Oh, and if you shave your head regularly like I do, that little open spot on the back of your baseball hat... sunscreen. Trust me.

Big Blue... Thingy

"OR is the boldest installation at the Milan International Furniture Fair 2008, a vortex-shaped surface which reacts to sunlight. The polygonal segments of the surface react to ultra-violet light, mapping the position and intensity of solar rays. When in the shade, the segments of OR are translucent white. However, when hit by sunlight they become coloured, flooding the space below with different hues of light. At night, OR transforms into an enormous ‘chandelier’, disseminating light into the surrounding courtyard, an atmospheric space for events and gatherings."

Whatever, it just looks cool and if I lived in Italy and my house had a courtyard I'd SO get one of these.

So I don't know about you, but I had a pretty good weekend. Saturday was pretty lazy and the kids were angry soul devouring zombies for most of the morning, but I still managed to get a lot of work done and felt fairly sane afterwards. They even behaved when we took them out for dinner that night (of their own accord, they ignored the countless threats of going back home to eat bread and water.)

Sunday started out a little rocky. I sat down at the computer and realized my beloved off-spring had once again made my dock disappear. If you don't have a Mac, the dock is a line of application icons across the bottom of the screen, kinda like your start menu, just much cooler. Anyway, in only the way a 3 and 4 year old can by randomly clicking the mouse, they made it disappear. Again. And it's not like I can just go into the dock preferences and bring it back, oh no. That would be too easy. I don't know what the hell they do but I have to actually restart to bring it back.

Anyway, after that, Bernadette suggested I should go out for a bike ride. And that was good since I really did need some exercise and alone time made me feel much better. AND THEN, I came home and saw that Jodi from Jodiferous linked to me on her blog which totally made me feel like one of the cool kids.

AND THEN, it was off to the in-laws for Liam's birthday feast.

You'll notice that cousin Michelle is the only one decorating the cake. The boys decided eating the sprinkles out of the bowl would save time.

Finally, I shave my head religiously every Sunday. Religiously. Sunday. Heh heh, get it? Anyway, yesterday I never got around to it and now I just know it's going to throw my juju off until I can cut it. And look, it's Monday now. See! Oh well, it's not like when it grows out it just emphasizes my receding hair line. Doh!

Still Here

It's been a slack-ass weekend. Well, for the most part. I have done about a thousand loads of laundry. Moved Connor's bed into Liam's room. Then moved it back to Connor's room. (Seemed like a good idea at the time.) Oh, and I climbed on to the roof to empty a few pounds of pine needles out of my gutter so it would stop overflowing. However I was too lazy to dig the ladder out. I used the van as a ladder instead.

Connor just came in and started dancing to Macy Gray. Dancing as only a 4 year old could. Now he's chanting, "it's all about me!" Not sure where that came from.

Liam got a hold of my cell twice today and started taking pictures with it. Once I would have passed off as lucky. Twice is a little spooky. Granted he filled the memory card with close-ups of his finger, but still, should I be worried that my 2 year old can operate my phone?

Child Free Day

With the exception of breakfast at Denny's. Picture by Liam. Apparently when you're two strawberry pancake sauce is delicious on sausages and bacon.

Lunch at Congee Noodle House. Mmmmmm.

Very small Japanese van. Imagine a dumpster with bigger wheels.

And finally, an apology and retraction of my previous rant about the evils of Nintendo. My bad. Do I really have to wait til Christmas to play with it?

My Week

Imagine my week as this bottle. Bite the neck off the bottle. Chew the glass thoroughly and swallow. Tomorrow morning, pass the glass. That was my week from Monday to Friday. But hey, it's Friday, it's a long weekend, and I've got a freshly opened bottle of Dutch goodness. I'm thinking positive.
