RTT: Novembre et Décembre

randomtuesday

I think that, aside from one post... ok, two if you count the dog from yesterday... all I've done for November is Random Tuesday's. November was crazy. New job. Almost another new job that would have been the gravy train and... other stuff. All and all, I'm pretty happy it's December today. Well, aside from the fact that I'm now in retail. And making minimum wage. WOOHOO!

Tweetcloud for the last month.

I hate my sister. Ok, not hate hate, more like she has a cool camera and photoshop and knows how to use both of them. You know, that kind of hate.

Connor: Yesterday me and Justin saw a zombified worm! It was dead and in a puddle but it was still moving.

So I'm working for a large book retailer now. If you're American, think Barnes & Noble. If you're Canadian, think of the colour blue and something a book is made up of. If you're neither just think of a really big book store. Sounds cool and all but I'm stuck at cash and only get to see the books for a split second while I'm ringing them in. Meh. It's a job. Actually, it's pretty good. My boss is great and my co-workers are really nice. Now if only my pay were say... double with benefits.

You may or may not have seen this, but I think it's fantastic. Jimmy Fallon doing Neil Young doing the Fresh Prince.

And because sometimes I'm a pretty cool dad, to celebrate the first day of December my boys are going to wake up to a few dozen Christmas ornaments I just finished hanging from their ceilings. Now go visit Keely's, because word on the street says she's a pretty cool mom.

  1. Awww, what a sweet dad you are to hang ornaments for your boys.
It would KILL me to work in a bookstore and only get to see the books as I rung them up. Of course if I ever worked at a bookstore, I'd probably get fired for grabbing a book and slinking off to a comfy chair to read.
The bat house pic is awesome. ♥ ing your RTT!

  2. I love that the second word in your cloud is puke.. sucks to be you some days it seems.

Thanks for the video I have never seen it.. he is a talent.

Hope December is better. Just think it could be minimum at McDonalds... yuck

  3. That isn't a zombified worm, it is a two-headed hamster.

I didn't realise you were working again. Maybe I missed the post or something. I guess you're no longer lazing about the house then...seriously happy for you mate.

  4. Um. All I see is a big blank white square? Do I need a password to see the Jimmy Fallon thing?

Congrats on the job, dude. for reals.

  5. Hey, at least you're not like Mike Rowe and doing one of those nasty dirty jobs.

  6. You need a job where you get to say "Do you want fries with that?" You could say that at your job, but it wouldn't make much sense. Fast food joints have great benefits, such as getting to eat the old, stale food.

  7. I've seen the Jimmy Fallon bit -- it's great! You're a very cool dad to surprise your boys this morning, and a cool person in general to work at a bookstore. I wish the pay was double for you too. :-)

  8. A job is a job, you're right about that.

You are an awesome dad because your kid knows what it is to be "zombified." That's amazing.

Also, peeing my pants re: Fallon. Love.

  9. I would love to work at a bookstore but then I would spend all that minimum wage on books. Instead I work at a library and never get to see the books. I'm so screwed.

You are awesome! Hanging ornaments from your kids ceiling.

  10. Wait, that job description sounds familiar. Oh, yeah, I did that in between jobs for a few years, too. It's a pretty good gig. You just have to make sure to bring home more $$$ than you spend on books.

Now I want to go hang ornaments for the boys. You are the motivational one today. And it's only the first of the month!

  11. Before I got my Kindle, I always wanted to work in a huge bookstore but knew I'd spend every dime on books!

Love your phrase "whore and pretty" should we be worried about you Captain?

And love that you're a great dad who hangs ornaments for his boys!

  12. Okay, the fact that it took me a few moments to understand your opening photo shows that I need a nap. Also, I'm coming off of a very bad comment I made on Outnumbered Two To One and my cheeks are still red, so there's that too. I would hate to be the cashier knowing that these people want nothing more than to get out of the store and you want to ask why they like a certain author. The good news is, you can see the trends of what they're buying and write a book to sweep the bestseller's list! I think big, don't I?

  13. I love your cloud! You do have a lucky sister.
    Have a great RTT!

  15. Happy December!!! I'm so glad it's here too. That whole November nonsense is a joke.

  16. Ok don't hate us - we have a cool camera and photoshop but we have no idea how to use either - YAY us!!

Caution mush alert - your boys are so lucky to have you for a dad!!! From a mom that had to do all the magic for her son - dad tried but just didn't have it in him. I can only hope my son is as cool a dad as you are - so far he only has a dog and he seems pretty cool with her.

  17. I would love to work at a bookstore, but the money and benefits are more important (unfortunately), so I get where you're coming from. I don't have benefits now and it really sucks.

That and I'd probably blow way too much of my paycheck at the bookstore...

  18. How fun...you hung ornaments from your kid's ceiling? Very cool...I'd say, come to my house and do that, but since we've never met, I'd probably call the cops because I'd think you're a burglar.

  19. I always thought it would be really cool to work at a bookstore!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I could never work at a book store. I'd spend my paycheck before I received it. I have a severe book buying problem.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think I'd love to work at a book store. But then again, I'm afraid I'd agree with Cape Cod Gal that I'd spend my paycheck even before it appeared in my hand

  22. good to know Im not the only one who's life bites sometimes.....retail in december, dude I will light a candle for u at next mass ;0

  23. Yay for the job, boo on the minimum wage, yay for Jimmy Fallon, boo for hating your sister (cause you should NEVER hate your sister no matter what), and yay for Christmas ornaments hanging from your kids' ceiling! You are the coolest dad ever!

  24. Working at Barnes and Noble has always been a personal dream of mine.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The twitter cloud is interesting. Especially the last two lines - sandwiches hacked driver body. Making gourmet lunches again?

    Happy December.

    ReplyDelete
  26. And...a book store? Did you know it's always been my fantasy to be locked in one for a weekend? Any chance you could work that out for me?

    ReplyDelete
  27. *sniff* You'll always be a cool dad to me, man! Now, about those books, you get an employee discount, perchance?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah yeah... ornaments... but did you put up lights? Without falling off the roof? I did! And now I know how Clark Griswold got started.

    Stop me... please?!

I would totally work there if it were closer.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I ate a zombified worm once. It totally ate my tapeworms brains.

    ReplyDelete
  30. You are a very cool dad. Do you at least get a discount at the book store?

When having a bad day, I fantasize about quitting and going to work for B&N. Except, being that this is a college town, all those jobs are taken.

    ReplyDelete
  31. ohhhhhhh but that job has chocolate doesn't it? unless it's the yellow "sister" store?

    ReplyDelete
  32. If you could get them to pay you to read the books it would ALMOST be like getting paid for sex. Almost.

  34. Wait...that was me! Apathy Lounge

  35. Now the trick is to take your tweetcloud and use all the words in one post.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I always thought that book store would be a nice place to work. Apart from the having to serve customers part.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I thought it would be great to work at a book store---but you're right, you would barely have time to look at the books!

Your sister is awesome. I hate her too.

    You are a good daddy!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yeah, but can you steal books and send them to friends?? I mean, Jeeeeeeeeesus......

    ReplyDelete
  39. Zombified worm eh? That's a pretty gross mental image. lol

I could never work for a bookstore, I'd spend my entire paycheck on books.

What a great dad you are to decorate for your boys. :-)

    Have a great day.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh my lord, that Jimmy Fallon CRACKED ME UP. I have such a crush on him.

Not so much in the Neil Young getup, though.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Do you have to fit Zombie into every post??haha

Jimmy Fallon is really really good!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Your tweet cloud is great!

Working in a bookstore doesn't sound too bad.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Love that Bat House. And the bookstore gig I would love, except that I probably couldn't tweet all day there.

    Cheers.

  44. Every! Single! Time! I try to do that tweet cloud thingy, I just get an endless pinwheel of death. Sadface.
