King of the Jungle

Connor: Mommy, do you know who rules the house?
Mommy: I do.
Connor: *confused* No, it's Daddy.
Daddy: Mommy rules the house. *reminds self to talk to boy*
Connor: *ignoring* There are four boys in the house and we vote Daddy!
Daddy: *shakes head sadly*
Mommy: Who do you ask when you want to play Wii?
Connor: Mommy.
Mommy: Who do you ask when you want to play on the computer?
Connor: Mommy.
Daddy: When you ask me anything, who do I tell you to ask?
Connor: mommy

Life is full of hard lessons, son, learning this one early will make the rest of your life a lot easier.
Trust me.

  1. Really, I think it's very important that Liam and Finn should have been in on this lesson. "We vote Daddy." Heh.

  3. One question: how did it possibly take him so long to figure this out? Even *I* knew it.

"When you ask me anything, who do I tell you to ask?"

    Perfect.

  8. There was never any debate about who's in charge here. I was never even in the running.

    It's just better that way.

  19. Heh. As my wise father once said, "Some of us are trainable, and some of us aren't." It's good that you're starting early with the training, as yours seem like they might take longer than the average bear for this lesson...

happy new year to you all.

  26. That's exactly how it would go at my house. Thankfully the kids have learned early on that it is Mom who is in charge. They only ask Dad if I'm not home, they know it'd be a wasted effort otherwise.

*snort* I keep re-reading it. It's still freakin' hilarious!!

Thanks for setting the record straight.

  36. Yes. The answer doesn't change no matter how old they get either. When they get married the answer will be "my wife". Best they learn that early on.
