RTT: Sterilizers, Ghosts & Must See TV

Last weekend we were driving to the in-laws and about a block away from their house we run into a 'road closed' sign where a new house is being put up. It's Saturday so I know nobody is working on it and just drive around it. Then from the back seat Liam says, "Daddy, why do you always do bad things?"

What?

randomtuesday

We bought an Advent sterilizer a few weeks back when Finn started hitting the bottle full time. When we got it home and Supreme Leader was reading the instructions she found that it has a six hour option. Six hours. Whew! That's a relief since I was also using those bottles to genetically engineer my own strain of ebola herpes. Six hours. Hello? This is our third kid, it's a good day if we remember to wash him.

The other night we let the boys stay up and watch Ghost Busters. A quarter of the way in Liam runs to his room, grabs his squirt gun, spy glasses and builds a ghost detector.

I ain't 'fraid a no ghosts

This is made of paper and it isn't even the artists best work, its the only picture I could get. Check out the rest of his work, especially the artistic stuff.

"This guy isn't a steel worker, he's a ninja. A ninja named Tommy."

Is anyone out there as entranced by the glory that is Detective Dan Stark as Supreme Leader and I? If you're not watching The Good Guys then you should be. Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks (son of Tom) play Dallas police officers with Whitford the grizzled veteran to Hanks by-the-book newbie. It's been done a million times, but Bradley Whitford is fantastic and the story lines are great. His character is about as far from the West Wing's Josh Lyman as could be. Makes me want to grow a mustache and buy a '79 Trans Am.

  1. Haha, I loved that video! I'm the eldest of 4 kids and my mom had us all in a space of 5 years. No wonder I'm the way I am!

  2. dude the paper art is way cool...ot quite as cool as the ghostbuster, but...you really should lay off the bad things you do...for the sake of the kids...lol.

  3. Liam rocks and that Luvs commercial was hysterical.

  4. Liam is great. I let our youngest watch ghostbusters II when it first came out (yeah, yeah I'm old) The creepy guy in the picture scared the crap out of him.

  5. Yup...that vid was great. And...what "other bad things" do you do that Liam was referring to? Little dude outed you, man.

  6. The pic of Liam in his Ghostbuster attire is too cute!

  7. My father told stories about how when I was a baby (his first child) he'd carefully measure each scoop of formula and actually use a thermometer to check the water temp. By the time kid #4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 rolled around he was too busy yelling at the rest of us to count the specifics and figured if the "baby was hungry, s/he drink it."

I don't know if I could watch Bradley Whitford in another role - Josh Lyman is burned into my brain.

    Jeff Nishinaka - amazing stuff.

  8. Oh oh, wait until they start driving, then they'll say, you used to do it Dad.

Next show him the Blues Brothers, sunglasses, black tie, and "be on a mission from God."

  9. Ghostbusters!! What a great movie. " I collect molds, spores and fungus".

  10. Why would you need a TV show in order to want a mustache and a 70's Trans Am?

    ReplyDelete
  11. The Good Guys huh? I will have to look it up. How did I miss a show about DALLAS police. Off to search the web to find it....thanks for the tip.

    BTW I have a ghost...send Liam quick!

  12. A dippy cousin of mine had a Trans Am, purple, complete with the bird on the hood.

He's a dork, though, not nearly as cool as all that!

What bad things could he be referring to? You do bad things? No way!

  13. Yeah, we sterilized the crap outta our first kid's bottles for the first month or so.

...to say anything further may be self-incriminating, so I'll leave it at that.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh Ghostbusters... those were the days :-)

  15. Sterilize bottles? Yeah, the boys got a good scrubbing with soapy water, that's about the extent of my efforts there.

Why do you do bad things, Captain? Hmmm? He, he, he.

Clearly, Liam is afraid of nothing. Good for him.

  16. I haven't check out that show yet, but I love Brad Whitford.

  17. what up with the sad OJ?!

Love Liam!!!!! I love it when our children have great memories of what we do!!

  18. "Darlin', box my meat." Just the one-liners from The Good Guys make it worth watching - the 'stache & Trans Am just add to the glory.

  19. I LOVE Bradley Whitford with or without big mustache. I saw him in a Starbucks the other day and got a little giddy. I don't think I embarrassed myself too much.

Oo, I think it's time for Jude to watch Ghostbusters. I kinda forgot about it!

  20. Well randomed, Captain. Yea, I found The Good Guys a few weeks ago too, and I like it. It's cool to see that guy from The West Wing play such a fun character.

  21. Liam ROCKS - what a badass!! Love it.

That paper art is Carraaazy good. I wonder how many paper cuts he's logged.

    Great post - as always.

  22. Why DO you do bad things, Mr. Source?

    ReplyDelete
  23. That is one innovative kid. I see some sort of future as an engineer. Here's hoping he'll earn the big bucks so he can keep you stylin' in your um, old age. :)

  24. Oh, Captain. Your children say the bestest things. Now they are in total competition for the Un Mom's son for the "best things that come out of kid's mouths that I can amuse my friends with" award. And those glasses? Where can I get some? They're totally for a "friend".

  25. Oh, the imagination of that boy! I love his costume! That's a cool paper thingy... I'll have to check out his other stuff.

You still having a heat wave up there?

  26. Everything makes me want to grow a mustache and buy a Trans Am.

I was just showing the Luvs ad do my wife last night. Now she wants a new husband. I think she missed the point.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh, you're supposed to sterilize bottles? I had my older girl back in the dark ages. Maybe it wasn't a rule yet?

    And the video? Hysterical!

I would have Liam over anytime to hunt ghosts!

    ReplyDelete
  28. That is an awesome video but the picture of him dressed as a ghostbuster was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant!

    ReplyDelete
  29. By baby three we were just using the dishwasher, on hot of course, to wash away the ebola. Dropped pacifiers were subject to the five second rule.

    Who ya gonna call?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I saw a clip for the Good Guys today. The young guy kept reminding me of Tom Hanks, but it wasn't quite right. Now I know why.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That video was awesome. I'm still laughing over here.

I've been away for a week so I missed the glorious photo of you and the boys with your nicknames. Love it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. loved the Ghost Buster. Yeah, agree with you
on Bradley Whitford. We's got us some real
red necks up our wayze too.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Six hours to steralize a freaking bottle? I just used the dishwasher-- dude it's fine, pick the passy up off the floor and pop it right back in their mouth-- dude, no worries. SIX HOURS???

  34. I would like to hire your warrior for a night. Or two.

I'll pay him a cookie an hour.

  35. The luvs thing cracks me up. I still think their diapers suck though.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Awesome randoms! I don't think I will ever drink orange juice again, however.

  37. Watched the Good Guys pilot and wasn't real impressed. Gets better I take it? (I hung in there with Fringe based on your recommendation and was not dissapointed)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Good Guys huh? Will think about it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. That clip from Luvs is a riot. And somewhat risque coming from a diaper company - no? Maybe that's just my twisted mind.

    Must go watch Ghostbusters now.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Awesome lil Ghostbuster ya got there! How cute is that?!

    That paper art is amazing!

Good Guys...definitely want to catch that one...I hear it's really great writing!

    ReplyDelete
  41. The paper art if truly fab, but nothing beats the ghostbuster. Your house will be safe from strange bumps and ghouls now.

    ReplyDelete
  42. You are the Source, all right, the source of all the funniest videos ever. Why, when i was your age, I didn't have time for these kinds of shenanigans, how do you do it? Oh wait, when I was your age we didn't have videos, that was the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Your boys ALWAYS make me smile!

    ReplyDelete
  44. OH! I forgot to add something!

When my oldest was about 6, we were driving somewhere and her dad was drinking a can of Coke and Gina burst into tears. We had no idea why. She wailed, "Daddy!!! You're drinking and driving!" See? You aren't the only dad doing bad things.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The Good Guys is one of the few shows hubby will actually sit and watch with me - we love it! :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. That video is great. Would not have been so bad if the new "kid" was a sister.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Liam not only possesses a kick ass name, but the obvious ability to singlehandedly capture all ghosts.

Come on, sailor. I love you long time.
