{Insert your own title here}

Watching CNN's coverage of the earthquake in Chile this weekend I was amazed that Rick Sanchez wasn't physically dragged off the set. How is it that I am unemployed and this man isn't?

I also felt sad for CNN. They really really wanted that tsunami to wipe out Hawaii. Better luck next disaster.

If this doesn't make you smile you're probably evil.

In fact, if that didn't get you a little, right there, consider yourself stink-eyed.

I want to give Middle Aged Woman a giant thank you for guest posting for me last week. Not only did it allow me to spend even more time on the couch watching the Olympics but I've inexplicably gained over fifty followers. I'm a little confused at how some of them found me though. I wonder how "Captain Dumbass" translates into Italian, Spanish and Portuguese?

And finally, from the man who brought you Pride & Prejudice & Zombies:

This is where I'd usually direct you off to the Un Mom's for more Random Tuesday hijinks, but this week I'm directing you off to the lovely and talented Amy, of the Bitchin' Wives Club who is hosting RTT this week. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what Amy's email said. If not... ha! Wasn't that random?

  1. I couldn't watch the first video (not available in MY country), but the Abe Lincoln one cracked me up. And I think all the news agencies really wanted a tsunami to hit Hawaii, just to have something to report about. Poor Hawaii. My RTT isn't up yet, but when it is, come check it out. I gave you (and Canada in general) a shout out.

  2. 50 new followers?? Don't gimme that "oh it was all sudden, I have no idea" crap. You've been doing nude mailouts, haven't you?

    ReplyDelete
  3. OK if not, I need to guest post on your site, you frikkin' STAR.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Thanks for mentioning that Amy was hosting RTT so I could go fix my post.

  5. You and the zombie stuff just crack me up! I LOVE the sun in the commercial.

50 new followers? Wow! That is impressive. Now put your clothes back on...

  6. lmbo I won't assume you are doing anything under the table or undressed to gain followers.. I will say that their browsers ended on a very good page that day...

  7. *sniff* dammit *snort* I am so glad I'm not evil *whonnnnk*

Send a resume to CNN and tell them you are applying for Rick's job, because you have more followers!

    ReplyDelete
  8. you were right. That DID make me smile.

    :-)

  9. I am so with you on the Rick Sanchez thing. Lurching around the set. super aggressive and confused about everything. "So what you're telling me is that this could be catastrophic?!" I have a feeling that was his one shot at handling a crisis and he blew it. What a bozo.

And yes, it was really sad how they cheered for a tsunami. They all need a good hard spanking, or to be dumped in the middle of a natural disaster so they stop really, really hoping for one.

  10. nice. great vid...congrats on the new followers...abe lincoln vampire hunter...too much. lol.

  11. As always Life is good over here....helps calm my Crazed Mind to see such utter senselessness....Of course that was for Rick....You are the man, that's why I follow you!

  12. The advertising crew at Tropicana deserves a raise for that one.

  16. Rick Sanchez has that chin. It's pretty much like an anchor. We'll never be rid of him.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh, that totally made me misty.

  18. I'm sitting here, fingers eloquently poised over keys yearning to be struck....however I got nuttin. I couldn't watch the videos. Not.A.One. because I'm employee of the year and blogging instead of working on my CaseLoad Summaries.

Anyslacker, I'll be back tonight so I can view them and leave a proper comment.

  19. I can't make the youtube crap work here again, however, I feel like I might have been touched by that video - i assume it was the sun one and not the abe lincoln one, but I could be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  20. still smiling from the sun vid....brilliant;)

    ReplyDelete
  21. How do you manage to go that long without sunlight and not kill yourself?

    ReplyDelete
  22. LOL! CNN are a little evil hoping for that... LMAO.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Even publicity stunts can be pretty cool sometimes. Nice.

    ReplyDelete
  24. ~sniff~ no stink eye for me...

I think you got the new followers cuz Chief gave you a shout out. At least, that's what got me here. And I stayed cuz dang, Chief knows what is funny :-)

  25. In my Country I can not watch the first Video. :(
But Abe Lincoln in the second is awesome, it made me laugh. Though I am normally more a fan of Zombies, Ghouls or Demons... :D

CNN has become a sad bunch, I think you only get a job these days if you got relatives there, no? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I thought the same thing about the tsunami hopes of CNN while watching that. I think they missed 'better' pictures from CA, from the sound of it.

Loved the Tropicana video. I have felt like that here in a Maine winter!

Aand, to finish up, I am a new follower who landed here after jumping from Fe...a life to Xbox4nappyrash to All That Comes With it to Middle-Aged Woman. Quite an interesting globe trot it was, too.

  27. Rick Sanchez. What can I say about that guy that hasn't been said already? He started out in local news in the Ft Laud/Miami area when I was around 9 or 10. I remember this because I met him at a town fair and he shook my hand telling me how lucky I was to meet him since he was going to be a big star. I thought he was a jerk back then.
Then, in 1992 when Hurricane Andrew struck our neck of the woods, he announced that we were in the middle of a major earthquake. My dad and I laughed out loud on that one.
Then, he was fired for driving drunk and causing an accident.
Then he was hired by MsNbc to head up their Latin division before it was determined he was inept and now he's at CNN. Soon, he'll be at Fox playing with Geraldo Rivera before news networks finally wise up.

  28. Glad you enjoyed the Olympics!!!! Guess this is why I no longer watch CNN -- get my news from Stewart and Colbert.

So its awesome being the most Golden #3 in the world!!! YAY CANADA!!!!! And how about that party we threw in Vancouver - take that '94 riot jerks who turned our city into a no fun zone - we are back and we RAWK!!!

Oh my son's favourite Olympic moment - picture taken outside of German House - open beers in hand and cop standing by laughing.

  29. It must have been a boring weekend in news...

    Enjoy your RTT.

  30. It did get me, but I have to admit I felt a bit manipulated by tropicana.
Didn't hit Hawaii but did bring up the surf in Santa Cruz CA.

    ReplyDelete
  31. How is it that Rick Sanchez is still on the air anywhere? Gross.

    Abe Lincoln kicks ass.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Birth rate falls in Japan! Gaijin needed for repopulation program! That's the headline I want to see.

That last video was actually higher quality than Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Loved the sun commercial. I'm trying to lay off the tear-jerking commercials though, so don't try that again, okay? I'm all choked up over the Embrace Life one.... STILL!

I missed the whole Rick Sanchez thing. Sounds like CNN royally screwed the pooch on the whole thing, though.

That vampire hunter Abe Lincoln thing? All it did was make me pine for Sookie and Bill and co. on True Blood. I crave it, long for it and lust after it. All at the same time.

  34. Hi, i like your blog :) I have just get one, if I should tell you.. I think I have a good blog, but no one knows.. Do you want to check it out? :) <3

I am going to blog ofter, if i get some comments ;)

  35. You might think you were being random - but rick sanchez, vampires, and cnn DO have something in common! They all suck the life out of you.

What is wrong with us that we thrive on disaster news...well not me...not you....but the rest of the world.

    Happy Tuesday!

    ReplyDelete
  36. DUde, you made me CRY with a Tropicana commercial. Possibly because I live in MN and am dying for sunlight! Also, I feel tricked. I totally wanted the Abraham: Vampire Hunter to be a MOVIE (but a book's good, too, I guess.) Happy RTT!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ooooh. Can I take a shot at this one? "El capitan de culo stupido?"
Wow. That's pretty horrendous, isn't it? Captain Dumbass sounds so much cooler.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I was sad for CNN too. I even cried a little... okay... ALOT.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I need that magic formula to gain 50 followers. I think it took me about a year to get that many even with guest posters (No… not a pinup of Christopher Guest either).

Hope you got your fair share of Olympic fever.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I can't get stink-eye because I got way too misty watching the sun rise in the arctic. I'm such a sucker.

I posted about cat food and voila my readership went up...go figure. Still nothing compared to your site, 'cause you the Dude.Congrats!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Love the sun commercial! I just heard Seth whatever-whatever interviewed today on NPR ~ Can't wait to read the book.

50 new followers? While you were away? Stellar! I bet Rick Sanchez could not do that.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Aw, I shed a tear for the orange juice commercial. Not. They all followed the light, dude! Isn't that a recipe for disaster?

And what's Honest Abe doing in zombieland? And what's Rick Sanchez the zombie doing in Abeland? I'm so confused. It's like I've been in 31 days of darkness. Got any OJ?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't know what happened on CNN but the guy looks like a smarmy git. The Tropicana commercial was great, though. Sorry you're unemployed! (Those are three random sentences, aren't they?)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Sanchez better NOT head to Fox. I hate CNN so he can stay there.

Love the sunshine thing. And Abe rocks! :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Great post . . . the sun, the vampire, the bragging about 50 new followers :) Why does everyone assume you got that many new followers because you posted nude photos of yourself somewhere? Would you really do that?????

    ReplyDelete
  46. So MAW is a follower magnet is she? MAW? Want to guest host at my place? I could use the help.

Who's the guy with the caps?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Now I want one of those furry hooded parkas that they were all wearing in the sun video. Even though I live in Los Angeles and it's, you know, not cold. But I think I could really rock one.

Also, congrats on that whole hockey thing. I know you Canadians are peeing yourselves with excitement. Well done.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I would like to inform you that I am NOT stink-eyed. That was really cute. Good job on winning the gold in hockey. You did amazingly well. I gotta go check out Amy... she sounds rad. And who is this Rick Sanchez yahoo? I'll have to look him up.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I could not take my eyes off the CNN coverage. Twitter brought it to my attention. They were praying in the production room for disaster to strike. Well, my friends, that happened decades ago when Wolf Blitzer walked through your doors. The Sanchez (the man, not the Urban Dictionary definition) is a total tool. Now that I think of it, The Sanchez (UD reference) may just be named after him. Huh.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Also? I know this is horrible...but news correspondants careers are MADE during dissasters. Wolf had Desert Storm. Aaron Whatshisname had 911. The Silver Fox had Katrina. Everytime some major event pops up, they are jockeying to get in front of the camera and make it big. Geraldo? Well, I think his mustache made him big.

  51. I just need to see something. You don't really need any more comments.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I love that you don't know your new followers came from your Blogger's Blog of Note win. I mean that sincerely. I love that about you right now.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Great videos. Thanks for sharing.

You are the closest thing I have to a Canadian friend so congrats on the Hockey victory and a fun Olympics.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love that Tropicana commercial!

I also found you on Blogs of Note. Congrats! :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. That Tropicana ad is one of the best I've seen in a while. And also, I could use one of those giant sun thingies over here.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I just saw clips of Sanchez's coverage of the tsunami. He has to be supplying his boss with coke, that is the only explanation for his continued employement. CNN should be ashamed.

    Save Ferris!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm relieved to know that I'm not evil nor did I incur the stink eye. :) *whew!*

    ReplyDelete
  58. awww, the sun shines on really confused eskimo types. they look so, uhm, happy? Ok, the one lady looks like she's thinking "How much f-ing money did you waste on this one promo when you could have been saving seals or something?"

Abe and the vampires, huh? Good stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Also, I tried to "insert my own title here" but I kept getting an error message... Am I using the foot pedal on my computer correctly?

  60. You do know that they are making Pride and Prejudice and Zombies into an actual movie, right? I can't wait. Hopefully they'll do it sooner than World War Z, which will be forever before it's in the theaters.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oh . ., what a funny and cute boy. I like all his actions, a very real little actor.

  62. I had a comment, but Charm City Barfly's comment just scared it out of me.
