RTT: Other People's Thoughts In Random Order

randomtuesday

My newest hobby once I ok it with my wife.

Heroes: I hate carnivals. Take any show and let it run long enough, some writer will insert a frickin' carnival into it. It's kinda like the jumping the shark but it doesn't necessarily have to be the end since some shows do it early on. I love Heroes. I hate carnivals.

The Virtual Autopsy Table from NorrköpingsVisualiseringscenter on Vimeo.

Aside from Arizona's speech to Callie's dad, Christina's breakdown and something Alex did that I've forgotten now, Grey's Anatomy has kinda sucked this year. Until last week's "I Saw What I Saw" episode. That was great tv.

Palm Pre. Couldn't they find a whiter actress?

Fireplace screens. Rome and London, get it?

So tomorrow Middle Aged Woman and I are reviewing Pride & Prejudice & Zombies over on He Read/She Read. Come by Wednesday for what will surely be my shoe-in to the New York Times Book Review. I promise to remember the little people.

Keely's. Go. Now.

  1. I can't believe you are using magic to turn everyone and anyone into gentlemen. I'm going to report you.

  2. Those fireplaces look exotic.

  3. As for the anvil, what is it with guys and explosives? I've never understood the attraction.

    ReplyDelete
  4. And the intern said, at his first real autopsy, "Eeeewww, what's that read stuff? BLOOD? Gahhhhh!!! (barf)

  5. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the touch-down site of that exploding anvil. And I think I'd pretty much steer clear of the cohort that enjoys that sort of play as well.

  6. figures grey's would be good last week since i decieded to bail on it.

  7. Great. Just great. Now, I feel like playing a fiddle.

  8. World. Champion. Anvil. Launcher.

Were there a lot of other anvil launchers that he had to beat in a televised competition? Are there rules and judges? I think maybe he woke up one day in the trailer, rolled over to Betty, and said, "I have decided to refer to myself as the World Champion."

  9. My doormat reads: Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one NOT trying to gentrify this neighborhood. See you tomorrow, Oh Captain, My Captain.

  10. I truly want to know where that floormat came from 'cause it's all important to my cause!

I agree with Beth about men and their toys.

  11. There's a world championship for anvil shooting? That was too funny. I can't understand why you would think that SL would object. How's your life insurance?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I would so watch anvil launching. The autopsy was cool.. and where can I buy the London fireplace screen

    Fun post x

  13. Uhh anvils. Yeah okay. Have you been watching Sweet Home Alabama recently?

I love the fireplace screens. Does that mean I'm disturbed?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I don't see why you can't launch a few anvils.

I was waiting for the anvil to land on that truck!

  15. This blog needs more monkeys.

  16. I gave up on Heroes I'm afraid! :)

Thanks for sharing :) Happy Random Tuesday.

  17. The anvil. So not showing that video clip to Teen Boy.

  18. I did NOT click on virtual autopsy. I assisted with an actual autopsy- ONCE- when I worked at a hospital. It was fascinating, but gave me heinous nightmares. And it was hard to eat for about a week. I want to love blood and guts, I really do.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Is it bad that I think the virtual autopsy thing is like, the coolest freaking thing EVER!?

That and the anvil guy. He is clearly a cut above.

    ReplyDelete
  20. You really need a fireplace screen of Chicago - that would be funny in a really sick way.

On the Heroes front, I can't see that head carnival guy as anyone except "Bagwell" from Prison Break. He plays a similar smarmy (isn't that a great word) character and it's just weird to see a real hand.

  21. I loved Heroes, past tense... but it went down the tubes long before the carnival came along.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I haven't watched heroes since season one - I got bored with it.

    I LOVED Arizona's speech to Callie's Dad...and I may...MAY...have sniffed a little...

I don't have a fireplace, and I want one of those screens.

I may need to watch the anvil launching a few more times before I know how I feel about it.

    Cheers for the lunchtime distraction!

  25. I felt the exact same way about Grey's it was GREAT writing...although as a writer studying that show is great! I learned a lot by coming up with an episode for it!

    much love

    ReplyDelete
  26. I kinda lost interest in Grey's last year with the whole brain tumor storyline. But, last week's was good, I agree.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I agree on the carnivals - hate them. They make me feel dirty just watching them on tv, and I'm not really that excited for the carnival characters on Heroes.

    I love the fireplace screens!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Those fireplace screens are awesome. I wonder why the don't make them in the design of the Twin Towers?

Oh wait, now I remember why.

    ReplyDelete
  29. You couldn't pay me enough to do that with an anvil. To be honest, I peed myself a little just watching it.

    ReplyDelete
  30. That anvil launching thing is just nuts...oh, wait - that would be a perfect hobby for you, wouldn't it? ;)

That virtual autopsy table is wild!

I agree - Grey's Anatomy last week was stellar. I gave up on Heroes long ago...like the second season. :)

    Those fireplace screens...innnnteresting!

And yes, you DO need an alligator head! :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Shit dude, was that my DAD on the anvil thing?? WTF dad?? I leave you unattended for 7 mos and you start a carnie freak show??

    ReplyDelete
  32. Love love love the new header. Can't wait for that review!

    ReplyDelete
  33. loving the new header. . .

didn't love the anvil thing. . .afraid to look at the autopsy thing. . .

Do they have a Chicago fireplace screen?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Dude, I love the fireplace screen but if I got one, the scene would show screaming toddlers burning to their death. Jamie and I also thoroughly enjoyed seeing the anvil get launched. Why the hell though?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Also, who still watches Heroes? Loser.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I can't wait to read about that anivel hobby....you know the post about your hospital stay?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Keely's. Went. Before.

Grey's was beauty in writing. Let's hope they keep bringing their A game, or at least a B. I will start cursing at the tv over a C.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Love the header!!

The fireplace screens are really great. I need one.

I don't shoot anything into the air! What goes up........

    ReplyDelete
  39. I used to like Heroes but went off it a while ago... Grey's I like usually, though I found last week's episode really irritating. Must stop watching hospital drama before bed!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?!
I'm so there! I'm dying (no pun intended...or is it?) to read that one. I just saw Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters at the store the other day...I almost bought it, but I'm thinking I'm going to do the Kindle thing.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm definitely going to send my boyfriend a link to that anvil video.

Sometime when I'm out of the country.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love the Onion. And I totally agree about Grey's Anatomy. Arizona's speech to Callie's dad was amazing.... guess what! I cried. (Like I do at some point every time I watch. Even during the crappy shows.)

    ReplyDelete
  43. We just had our annual carnival or ethnic festival as they name it and you're right . . . they are creepy, but good for people watching!

    ReplyDelete
  44. WooHoo - Anvil Launching & Rome burning! Great way to start the day- thanks

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anvil....hmmmmmmmm.....

Those fire place screens are quiet lovely. Maybe some with a volcano would be next best.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ugh..what is with the carnivals! Last season Heroes started to lose my interest. I stick around for Hiro, even though his optimistic enthusiasm about saving the world is somewhat annoying, I can't quit him. :)

Grey's Anatomy has been a little rough this season, but I really enjoyed 'Tainted Obligation'.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yeah...but if any show deserves to include a carnival, it's Heroes. I mean it's almost a given that most of the people with abilities would find their way to a place where they're valued. It doesn't bother me - although Syler in that stupid bowler cap and striped shirt made me laugh out loud.

I'm thinking that all shows feel the need to bring in a lesbian story line these days... I'm not buying Claire with the girl from "The Nanny." I feel no chemistry - it's a stretch. But lesbians are so hot right now (that last bit needs to be read as a Zoolander reference of course - another stretch).

And that concludes my geek moment for the day.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm a little late to the party, but do they have one of those fire screens in a Detroit? No? Shit.

Come on, sailor. I love you long time.
